Dr. Anita Carleo, Therapeutic Optometrist and Glaucoma Specialist, was born and raised in Dallas where she attended the Hockaday School for 14 years. She completed her undergraduate studies at Austin College in Sherman, TX, and received her doctorate of optometry degree at the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO).
During her career, Dr. Anita Carleo has continued to gain invaluable knowledge and experience in the management of many ocular diseases, including dry eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. She believes that prevention is key and has developed relationships with surgeons and physicians to help co-manage her patients. She, of course, continues to love the “bread and butter” of optometry; that is, comprehensive eye examinations for both glasses and contact lenses to help all ages see better in their daily lives. She works with her patients to find the best options to suit their lifestyle and recreational activities needs, whether it be that perfect pair of glasses or a specialty multifocal contact lens for freedom and flexibility.
As a family-run practice, she is excited about being able to provide her patients with the care and attention she would want offered to any of her own family members. She feels strongly that patients deserve a doctor who will listen to their problems, address and treat their issues, and spend the time needed to answer any and all questions.
Dr. Anita Carleo was awarded the Ocular Instruments Award of Excellence for Outstanding Performance in the Study of Ocular Disease. She is a proud member of the Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor society, the American Optometric Association (AOA), Texas Optometry Association (TOA), Dallas County Optometric Society (DCOS), and Vision Source.
In her free time, Dr. Anita will usually be found with her husband, their two sons, and now their new puppy addition. She loves to travel, eat good food, and cozy up on the sofa with a book or binge-worthy show…. That is, of course, when she’s not running after her boys and playing in the yard.
